Mine Maintenance Workshop Floor Repair – Concrete works

Project Title: Mine Maintenance Workshop Floor Repair – Concrete works

Client: Newmont Suriname

Location: Merian Mine Site

Date / Duration: May & June Year 2023

Project Description:
This project involved the demolition of a structurally compromised concrete floor and the subsequent construction of a new, reinforced heavy-duty floor to meet updated load-bearing requirements. The scope of work included precision cutting of the existing concrete, full floor demolition, and associated earthworks to prepare the site for reconstruction.
Prefabrication of formwork and steel reinforcements was carried out at TCF’s facility in Paramaribo to ensure consistency and reduce on-site construction time. TCF also handled complete project management, overseeing each stage from demolition to the final pour.
The newly constructed floor was designed to accommodate heavier loads, with enhanced structural integrity to support the client’s operational demands.

Outcome:
To meet the technical demands of this and future projects, TCF invested in a rock-cutting attachment for its mini-excavator, capable of cutting up to 350 mm of reinforced concrete. This strategic investment significantly increased demolition efficiency and has since proven highly valuable, enabling us to execute similar complex tasks on multiple other projects. The project was completed successfully, on time, and to the full satisfaction of the client.
