ETP Reactor 1 survey – Repair works

Project Title: ETP Reactor 1 survey – Repair works

Client: Newmont Suriname

Location: Merian Mine Site

Date / Duration: May & June Year 2024

Project Description:

Scope of work began with thorough cleaning of the basin, followed by the injection of Crack-Pac epoxy resin to seal existing cracks in the concrete walls. The basin floor was then leveled using a self-leveling concrete system to restore surface uniformity and prepare for advanced composite reinforcement.

To ensure proper bonding and surface readiness, the entire interior of the basin was grit blasted and treated with a Chlo-Rid cleaning solution to remove embedded contaminants and salts. Following surface preparation, a layer of glass fiber was installed across the basin’s interior, which was then overlaid with carbon fiber sheets using high-performance epoxy materials sourced from a specialized manufacturer in the United States.

In addition to executing the technical scope, TCF was also responsible for full project management, ensuring each phase—from material procurement and surface preparation to composite installation—was performed according to engineering standards and within the agreed timeline.

Outcome:
This project demonstrated TCF NV’s specialized capabilities in advanced composite applications. Notably, TCF is currently the only trained and qualified contractor in the Caribbean region certified to carry out carbon fiber reinforcement installations. The project was completed successfully, earning client satisfaction and further solidifying TCF’s reputation as a leader in specialized concrete repair and structural reinforcement.
